Tottenham and England forward Harry Kane (30) is on the verge of joining Bayern Munich.
As reported by Bild, Kane will earn €25m gross per year at Bayern – a significant increase on the reported €12m that the Englishman currently earns at Tottenham. Upon completing his medical, which is scheduled for today, Kane is expected to sign a contract until 2027 with the Rekordmeister to become their new No. 9.
It’s been back and forth in the negotiations to sign Kane but these accelerated when CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe flew to London last month to undergo further discussions with Daniel Levy. Although an agreement wasn’t reached then, The Athletic reported on Thursday that an agreement between Bayern and Tottenham had been found.
After an agreement in principle worth €100m plus add-ons, there was then some confusion with Kane reportedly hesitating on a move to Bayern despite a verbal agreement with the club. It was then reported by Florian Plettenberg, close to midnight, that Kane was on the verge of a move to Bayern and is expected to arrive in Munich today.
With final details being clarified, Plettenberg further reports that Kane is waiting on a “second green light” to fly to Munich. With each passing minute, it seems unlikely that Kane will not feature against RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup on Saturday with a registration deadline reportedly set at 15:00.
