Could Bayern Munich actually sign Kylian Mbappé?

While Bayern Munich are yet to set the world alight this season, they have still been able to blow sides away with their unstoppable front line. With Jamal Musiala and Kinsley Coman combining perfectly with Harry Kane and Leroy Sané, it is no surprise to see that Der Rekordmeister are the top scorers in Europe’s top five leagues with 42 goals.

However, while few players in the world would demand a starting role in Bayern’s front line, there is one player in particular who could do so for free in the summer. Despite the exploits of Kane and Sané, PSG’s Kylian Mbappé would certainly add further dynamism to Thomas Tuchel’s attack.

The Bayern head coach has even managed the 24-year-old during his time in the French capital, where PSG were crowned two-time Ligue 1 champions as well as Champions League runners-up. Regardless, could the French superstar actually sign for Der Rekordmeister?

On Sunday evening, Tuchel was on the TV channel Canal Football Club, where he was asked about Mbappé. When questioned about whether the PSG star could sign for Bayern, the head coach commented:

“Whether I want to sign Kylian Mbappé at Bayern Munich? Yes, yes, he will play for us, that’s for sure. Kylian is Kylian; he is extraordinary. He is very intelligent. If he wants something and you don’t give it to him, he understands why. We have a good relationship. And if he wants to come, I will pick him up on my bike. But I think that won’t be the reality.”

However, as Tuchel remarked, this signing would be difficult to imagine in reality due to a number of circumstances. While Mbappé would be a free transfer in the summer, his extraordinary salary would undoubtedly exceed Bayern’s limits.

As well as this, the never-ending headline news stories that Mbappé naturally generates due to his position in the world of football would more than likely frustrate those at the club. Nevertheless, with Bayern, there is always a possibility, and the impact the Frenchman would make on the Bundesliga would be unprecedented. While it does not appear possible in reality, it would be a dream for Der Rekordmeister.
