Christopher Nkunku an option off the bench for RB Leipzig against Wolfsburg

Marco Rose has confirmed during his press conference that Christopher Nkunku will be an option for them off of the bench as they face Wolfsburg on Saturday.

When asked about Nkunku and his availability Rose said: “It’s great for us that Christo is available again. There’s not many players in the world that are as talented as he is. Christo does things that you can’t expect, because he’s an impact player and immensely talented. Hopefully, he will be able to help us this weekend.”

However, Rose stated that Nkunku will have to wait before starting again: “However, Christo has been sidelined for several months now. He will need some time until he’s back to feeling 100% again.”

Nkunku has been injured since November when he tore a knee ligament with France during their preparations for the World Cup in Qatar. When the 25-year-old was playing he continued his form from last season playing 15 games and scoring 12 times and assisting twice as well.  Despite his injury, Nkunku still finds himself second in the goalscoring chart behind Niclas Füllkrug.

It is well known that this is Nkunku’s last season at Leipzig as he has a move agreed to join Chelsea that has yet to be officially confirmed.

Leipzig are currently fifth in the Bundesliga seven points off of Bayern Munich in first place after their 2-1 loss to Union Berlin last weekend.
