Bundesliga Predictions | Round 12

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart

My match of the week is Frankfurt at home against Stuttgart. This is a game between two sides that have somewhat defied original expectations. Of course, Stuttgart’s form last season under Sebastian Hoeneß should have given us some indication that they could be a very good team this year. A top four spot at this stage seemed like a tall order but here we are. The same can be said for Frankfurt, who not just lost Randal Kolo Muani but also Daichi Kamada. Yet under Dino Toppmöller they have played a strong season despite not having a true no.9. Hence, this should be a great game between two up and coming coaches and, therefore, a must watch and a proper Topspiel.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • FC Köln 1-3 Bayern Munich
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Union Berlin 2-1 Augsburg
  • Freiburg 3-1 Darmstadt
  • Wolfsburg 0-2 RB Leipzig
  • Werder Bremen 0-3 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 2-2 Stuttgart
  • Heidenheim 1-1 Bochum
  • Hoffenheim 2-1 Mainz

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Mönchengladbach

My game of the week has to be the showdown at the Westfalenstadion. Edin Terzic’s side are under immense pressure following back-to-back defeats prior to the international break and face a truly terrifying run of fixtures in the coming weeks. As such, Saturday’s clash is something of a must-win for the young head coach. However, standing in Dortmund’s way is a much improved Borussia Mönchengladbach that have found their shooting boots in recent match days. The Foals will be no pushovers this weekend.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • FC Köln 0-3 Bayern Munich
  • Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Union Berlin 1-2 Augsburg
  • Freiburg 2-1 Darmstadt
  • Wolfsburg 1-3 RB Leipzig
  • Werder Bremen 0-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 1-2 Stuttgart
  • Heidenheim 2-1 Bochum
  • Hoffenheim 1-1 Mainz

Scores after MD11: Manu – 82, Stefan – 84
