Bundesliga clubs interested in a summer transfer of Bjorn Meijer

Several unnamed Bundesliga clubs as well as clubs from Spain and England are interested in Club Brugge’s Bjorn Meijer, reports Fabrizio Romano

The 19-year-old joined Brugge in the summer from Groningen in the Netherlands for €6m, signing a contract until 2026. Meijer has played 33 times for Brugge this season scoring once and assisting five times.

Meijer is versatile and has played at left-back, left midfield and even centre-back for Brugge this season as they sit fourth in the Belgium Pro League.

Several other players from Brugge have taken the step up to the Bundesliga in recent years such as Odilon Kossounou (Bayer Leverkusen), Stanley Nsoki (Hoffenheim), Noah Mbamba (Bayer Leverkusen) and Éder Balanta (Schalke) while Arne Engels left Brugge’s youth team for Augsburg.

Several Bundesliga teams need a new left-back or will need a new left-back in the summer. The likes of Borussia Mönchengladbach are expecting the departure of Ramy Bensebaini while the future of Borna Sosa at VfB Stuttgart is uncertain. Leverkusen are looking at upgrading their left-back options with Mitchel Bakker and Daley Sinkgraven filling the role this season.
