Borussia Dortmund’s Edin Terzić knows the quality that Newcastle United pose to the Bundesliga side and speaking to reporters ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash, has called for focus from his players.
“We know how good Newcastle are,” said Terzić. “They have beaten Manchester United and now Arsenal.
“We know their quality and we know they weren’t happy with their performance against us two weeks ago. It’s going to be very intense tomorrow. We know they are pushing very hard. We have to stay focussed until the end. We have a great chance of getting three points and winning the direct duel against Newcastle.”
Felix Nmecha scored the only goal in Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park last month in what was an important win in a tough group. Sitting second in Group F, a win against Eddie Howe’s side would give BVB an excellent chance at qualifying for the Round of 16.
Emre Can came off injured in the reverse fixture and is yet to feature since. Speaking today, Terzić stated that BVB’s captain will undergo a late fitness test on Tuesday morning before making a decision on whether or not Can will feature against Newcastle United. Ramy Bensebaini’s fitness is also questionable coming into this tie but Terzić remains hopeful that the Algerian will feature. If not, expect to see Marius Wolf and Julian Ryerson operate as the full-backs.
