Borussia Dortmund provide Nico Schlotterbeck injury update

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Nico Schlotterbeck will miss the remaining training sessions this week after the German defender suffered a slight injury in the friendly against San Diego Loyal.

Schlotterbeck was replaced at half-time as Borussia Dortmund went on to win 6-0. The 23-year-old suffered a knee injury and after leaving Dortmund’s USA tour early to undergo an MRI scan in Germany, Schlotterbeck’s diagnosis is far clearer with the player missing just a few days.

BVB also confirmed that Thomas Meunier suffered a serious muscle injury during a spring and will be absent for several weeks, while Gregor Kobel also picked up an injury. As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Kobel suffered a slight torn muscle fibre in Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against Manchester United, which resulted in the Swiss goalkeeper being replaced after 45 minutes, despite plans to play the full 90.

Kobel will now miss the games against Chelsea and Ajax and is currently questionable as to whether or not he will play against TSV Schott Mainz in the DFB Pokal.

RN suggest that Kobel will be out for around seven to ten days.
