Borussia Dortmund are in advanced talks to sign Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap (21).
That’s according to an exclusive report by Sport1‘s Patrick Berger, who adds that Bella-Kotchap is keen on a return to Germany after leaving Bundesliga side Bochum for Southampton last summer. The 21-year-old would significantly improve the central areas in defence and provide competition for Mats Hummels, Niclas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck.
Dortmund initiating talks to sign Bella-Kotchap comes after Soumaïla Coulibaly (19) left the Schwarzgelben to join Belgian side Royal Antwerp on loan with a reported option to buy yesterday.
It’s known that if the quality is there, Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastian Kehl wants to sign German national team players and Bella-Kotchap has already played two games under Hansi Flick, and the defender was also a part of Germany’s World Cup squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Although talks are advanced, Berger further suggests that Bella-Kotchap would cost around €20m.
