Bayern Munich dismiss Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić

Kicker report today that Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn and Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić have been dismissed by the Bundesliga champions.

Kahn wasn’t at the RheinEnergieStadion for the final game of the season as Bayern secured their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title due to having the flu. His successor has already been determined.

It was decided at a supervisory board meeting, called at short notice, that Jan-Christian Dreesen, most recently CFO and Deputy CEO, will succeed Kahn. The 55-year-old has been at the club since 2013.

Per the report, Dreesen is considered to be approachable, communicative and is also appreciated by the Bayern Munich supporters. He was also considered a candidate for the then vacant CEO role at the DFL.

In what has been a bizarre day for football, which includes the Meisterschale going to Dortmund until the 89th minute when Jamal Musiala scored the equaliser against FC Köln, it’s not yet clear who will succeed Salihamidžić at the Rekordmeister.
