Bayer Leverkusen show interest in Liverpool’s Luke Chambers

As reported by the Athletic, Liverpool are one of several clubs interested in signing Liverpool’s Luke Chambers (19) on a season-long loan.

Chambers spent six months on loan at Scottish side Kilmarnock last season and missed out on England’s U20 World Cup squad, instead opting to see out his loan spall and remain at the club in the midst of a relegation battle.

Primarily a left-back, Chambers can also operate in a central position and with the departures of Mitchel Bakker and Daley Sinkgraven at Bayer Leverkusen, it’s clear to see why Xabi Alonso is interested in signing the Englishman on loan, providing competition for Álex Grimaldo, who joined on a free transfer.

Per the Athletic’s report, Liverpool will assess Chambers – who also has interest from Watford and Sheffield Wednesday – in pre-season before making a decision on the player, and whether or not they want to include him in the first-team squad or send him out on loan at a top level.
