Bayer Leverkusen set to sign Arthur from America MG

Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are set to complete the signing for Arthur from America MG in Brazil as early as this weekend.

The fee is said to be around €6m and the 20-year-old will sign a contract at Leverkusen until 2028. The arrival of Arthur could potentially open the door for Jeremie Frimpong and Timothy Fosu-Mensah to leave the club in the summer.

Arthur recently made his debut for the senior Brazil team in their 2-1 loss to Morocco during the international break. Last season, the right-back played 17 times for America MG in all competitions but has only been able to start in five of those games as well.

Leverkusen will likely have to invest in another right-back along with Arthur as not only is he rather inexperienced but if  Frimpong and Fosu-Mensah leave then there will be only one senior right-back in the squad.

Die Werkself have reportedly also shown interest in Kiliann Sildillia who is a similar age to Arthur but already has Bundesliga experience under his belt with Freiburg and the Frenchman is versatile as he can also play as a centre-back.
