Bayer Leverkusen could enter the transfer market in the winter window

With the Africa Cup of Nations at the beginning of 2024, Bayer Leverkusen are set to lose several key players and they are beginning to prepare for the departure of striker Victor Boniface and may enter the market for an additional attacker according to Kicker

Boniface’s backup Patrik Schick is only returning from injury. Although his brief cameos have been positive it may be too much to ask to rely heavily on him as Leverkusen’s main striker in the new year.

It is currently seen as too risky to rely soley on Czech international due to his injuryproness over the past two seasons.

To remove the burden off of Schick, Leverkusen are prearing to enter the transfer market in the winter to sign an attacker that can also play as a striker meaning their game time will not be limited as soon as Boniface returns from AFCON. The new attacker can then also replace Nathan Tella is also eligible for Nigeria and could travel to AFCON.
