A extension to Xavi Simons’ loan at RB Leipzig is probable

Sport Bild reports, that it is probable that RB Leipzig will be able to extend the current loan of Xavi Simons for another season.

Under the current agreement, Simons is expected to return to his parent club PSG at the end of this season, but there is a possibility that Leipzig will be able to extend the 20-year-old’s loan by another season. It is unlikely that Leipzig will even have the chance of signing Simons permanently.

An extension to Simons’ loan would also make sense for PSG as he would currently be behind Ousmane Dembélé in the pecking order at the Parisians and staying at Leipzig would mean he would receive consistent playing time and further his development. This allows PSG to make the 20-year-old a key piece of their project in the future or sell him for profit.

Simons has been one of the stand-out players in the first quarter of this Bundesliga season. The 20-year-old has played 11 times for Leipzig and has provided seven assists as well as scoring four times in that period as well. Simons’ early season form has helped fill in the hole left by the departure of Christopher Nkunku in the summer.
