Wolfsburg to open talks with Omar Marmoush

As reported by Kicker, Wolfsburg want to enter negotiations with Omar Marmoush and his representatives to extend the player’s contract beyond 2023.

Marmoush (23) has been involved in all 15 Bundesliga games for Wolfsburg this season, starting 11 of them and scoring two goals. The Egyptian forward also scored in stoppage time against Carl Zeiss Jena in the DFB Pokal first round to put his side up against Eintracht Braunschweig.

At the weekend, Marmoush was substituted after 11 minutes against Hoffenheim following a bruised hip but is expected to return to training on December 1 following a two week break. Off the pitch, Wolfsburg want to resume extension talks over the Christmas period.

Initial negotiations were dismissed and Marmoush came close to leaving Wolfsburg but has since become an important player under Niko Kovac. VfL vetoed a move from Brentford during the summer and the Egypt international wasn’t short on offers. Over the next month, Marmoush and Wolfsburg will look to seek clarity regarding their cooperation.
