Werder Bremen suspend Marvin Ducksch for disciplinary reasons

Werder Bremen confirm that they will be without Marvin Ducksch (28) for tonight’s DFB Pokal game against Paderborn for disciplinary reasons. The German forward missed the majority of Sunday’s recovery session and didn’t take part in a team meeting, resulting in the Bundesliga club suspending the player.

“We can only be successful if everybody follows all the rules. The issue has been dealt with now and Marvin will train on Thursday with the team as we prepare for the game in Freiburg,” said head coach Ole Werner.

According to DeichStube, Ducksch was seen partying in a club on Saturday night, just hours after their 2-0 defeat against Mainz. This also comes after the Bundesliga club recently tightened their Covid-19 protocols to reduce the risk of infection. Per the report, Oliver Burke was also spotted at the nightclub, but was on time for Bremen’s team meeting the following morning.

Ducksch, who has scored two and created five in 10 Bundesliga games, has apologised internally.
