Werder Bremen reach agreement in principle for Derby County’s Lee Buchanan

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have today reached an agreement in principle for Derby County left-back Lee Buchanan.

The 21-year-old has travelled to Bremen’s training camp in Zillertal but still needs to undergo the obligatory medical checks before any deal can be completed with the deal expected to be finalised at the beginning of next week, according to Kicker.

Per the report, Werder Bremen have almost completed their recruitment for the summer with Ole Werner’s side looking for reinforcements in the right-back area. SVW want to sign Mitchell Weiser from Bayer Leverkusen, with discussions ongoing.

As for Buchanan, Werder Bremen were finally able to reach an agreement with Derby County following their takeover.

The English youth international has played 75 games in all competitions for Derby County and will provide competition for Anthony Jung and Marco Friedl, who recently signed a contract extension.

Buchanan is Bremen’s third defensive signing of the summer following Niklas Stark and Amos Pieper.
