Werder Bremen keen to tie Marco Friedl down to new contract

Speaking to DeichStube, Werder Bremen’s head of football Clemens Fritz confirms he would like to extend the contract of Marco Friedl beyond 2023.

“Marco has made great development this season, both sportingly and personally,” said Fritz. “We are convinced of Mario and would like to work with him beyond the summer.”

The 24-year-old defender tried forcing a move to Union Berlin last summer but has since established himself as an integral part of Werder Bremen’s squad.

Sitting third in the table, a return to the Bundesliga could also be possible.
