Thomas Müller amongst three players missing for Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen

Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s game against Werder Bremen on Tuesday evening, Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that he will be without Thomas Müller, Matthijs de Ligt and Josip Stanišić.

“Matthijs de Ligt, Josip Stanišić and Thomas Müller are out,” said Nagelsmann. “Dayot Upamecano is also carrying a knock. Thomas is on a good path but I would like to give him a rest before the World Cup. We don’t want to take any risks and he probably won’t play against Schalke either.”

Nagelsmann is confident that De Ligt will return against Schalke but Stanišić has tonsilitis, and so he remains doubtful for the final Bundesliga game of the year. Manuel Neuer didn’t have any reaction regarding his shoulder injury after starting against Hertha Berlin on Saturday after eight games out because of a shoulder injury.

Bayern Munich confirmed on Sunday that Alphonso Davies would miss the remaining two Bundesliga games of 2022 with a hamstring injury but his World Cup participation isn’t under threat.

After Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win against Hertha Berlin, they reclaimed top spot in the Bundesliga following Union Berlin’s heavy 5-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen. Just three points separate the top four teams.
