Alphonso Davies suffers hamstring injury ahead of World Cup

Bayern Munich have this morning confirmed that Alphonso Davies suffered a hamstring injury against Hertha Berlin on Saturday and will miss Bayern’s remaining two Bundesliga games of 2022.

The Rekordmeister further state that Davies’ involvement at the World Cup is not under threat.

Davies was substituted in the 63rd minute of Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win against Hertha that put Julian Nagelsmann’s side back on top of the Bundesliga, at least until Union Berlin play Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday afternoon.

The extent of Davies (22) injury on Saturday night was unknown but after a diagnosis, the Canada international suffered a muscle strain in his rear right thigh and as a result will miss Bayern’s games against Werder Bremen and Schalke.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring for Bayern Munich before Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored two goals in one minute. At 3-0, Bayern looked to be clear but Dodi Lukebakio pulled a goal back before Davie Selke made it 3-2 from the spot.
