Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdžić wants clarity on future

Speaking after Stuttgart’s 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig on Sunday afternoon, Austrian forward Sasa Kalajdžić discussed his future at the Bundesliga club as he enters the final year of his contract.

“I don’t know myself how my future will turn out but that will become apparent in the next few weeks or as soon as possible, but I can’t influence many things either,” Kalajdžić told DAZN.

At the start of the transfer window, Kalajdžić was wanted by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund but both clubs instead decided to pursue other targets. The 25-year-old has also been linked with various Premier League, including Manchester United, and Serie A clubs but VfB are yet to receive any official offers.

Should Kalajdžić remain at the club beyond the September 1 transfer deadline, Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat is confident that the Austria international will sign a contract extension.

Last season, Kalajdžić scored six and created two in 15 Bundesliga games but missed a chunk through injury. Playing 64 minutes against RB Leipzig on Sunday, the Austrian assisted Naouirou Ahamada for the equalising goal.
