Simon Rolfes optimistic Moussa Diaby will remain at Bayer Leverkusen despite interest from the Premier League

Speaking to Sky Germany, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes discussed the squad planning and the contract extensions of Patrik Schick and Florian Wirtz until 2027.

“First and foremost, players like Patrik and Florian need a club with prospects and they see that at Bayer Leverkusen,” said Rolfes. “That’s the basis of such a decision. Otherwise they would not have been willing to commit themselves to the club for so long. They are an important part of the squad with years to come.

“We are of course on board with all the details of the two. It’s a clear commitment from both players to Bayer Leverkusen and the team.”

Moussa Diaby is a player that has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but Rolfes remains optimistic that the Frenchman will be at the club next season.

“I’m optimistic about Moussa that he will play here again next season but when clubs with incredibly large financial opportunities bid for such a player, we have to sell a top player at some point,” added Rolfes.

B04 won’t entertain offers less than €60m for Diaby. who scored 13 and created 12 in 32 Bundesliga games last season.
