Hertha Berlin reach agreement to sign Chidera Ejuke

Hertha Berlin have reached an agreement to sign Chidera Ejuke from CSKA Moscow, according to Bild.

The 24-year-old will join the club on loan without an option to buy.

Hertha Berlin head coach Sandro Schwarz knows Ejuke from his time as manager of Dynamo Moscow, CSKA’s rivals.

Ejuke joined CSKA Moscow from Heerenveen in 2020 for €11.5m. The Nigeria international has since played 65 games in all competitions, scoring 10 and creating six and would provide competition for Myziane Maolida on the wings, the Frenchman has failed to impress since his move from Nice last summer.

Hertha Berlin appointed Schwarz as head coach on June 2 after securing their Bundesliga status in the relegation playoff against Hamburg.

Die Alte Dame have already recruited from the Russian market this summer after signing 25-year-old central-defender Filip Uremović from Rubin Kazan on a free transfer. Hertha have also signed Jonjoe Kenny, who played for Schalke in 2019/20, from Premier League side Everton on a free transfer.
