Serge Gnabry agrees Bayern Munich contract extension

Serge Gnabry has agreed a new long-term contract with Bayern Munich, according to David Ornstein. This comes after it was reported on Wednesday that both parties were confident that an agreement would be reached with only the final details left to be clarified, which now seems to be the case.

The 27-year-old had just 12 months remaining on his deal and courted interest from both Chelsea and Real Madrid. Per Kicker’s earlier reporting, Gnabry’s new contract will be four-or-five years which he is expected to sign in the coming days.

At one point, it looked as though Gnabry may have left the club this summer after being dissatisfied with initial discussions, which was the reasoning for a delay in reaching an agreement. It had even been suggested that if Gnabry had not signed an extension or left, he could be consigned to the stands.

But that’s something neither party wanted. Gnabry scored 14 and created six in 34 Bundesliga last season, his best goal return in the league.
