Sadio Mané to undergo X-ray after taking a knock to his tibia

Sadio Mané was substituted in the 20th minute in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win against Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. Speaking to Abendzeitung Munich, Julian Nagelsmann confirmed that the Senegalese forward received a knock, just 13 days out before Senegal’s opening World Cup game.

“He got a knock on the head of his tibia,” said Nagelsmann. “It’s always uncomfortable. He has to have an X-Ray. I hope nothing is wrong.”

Bayern took the lead through Jamal Musiala before Anthony Jung equalised after 10 minutes last night. Replaced by Leroy Sané in the 20th minute, Mané would head straight down the tunnel.

The Bundesliga leaders extended their lead to four points before Freiburg play in-form RB Leipzig on Wednesday night. Serge Gnabry completed a hat-trick, the 27-year-old is in excellent form ahead of the World Cup whilst Leon Goretzka also showcased his composure to find the goal. 17-year-old Mathys Tel then scored a superb goal to complete Bayern’s rout.

Bayern face Schalke at the weekend and despite a difficult start to their season without Robert Lewandowski, could end 2022 with 10 consecutive wins across all competitions.
