Ramy Bensebaini’s Borussia Mönchengladbach future unclear

Borussia Mönchengladbach want to extend the contract of Ramy Bensebaini but as of yet, there are no concrete talks between the two parties for an extension beyond 2023, according to Sky Germany.

Bensebaini (27) has missed just one Bundesliga game for Daniel Farke’s Gladbach this season, scoring four goals whilst establishing himself as one of the league’s best left-backs.

The Algeria international attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and last year, AS Roma made contact with Borussia Mönchengladbach in an attempt to sign the defender.

Since his move from Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2019 for €8m, Bensebaini has played 93 games across all competitions for Die Fohlen, scoring 23 and creating seven. The majority of his goals coming from the spot.

Bensebaini isn’t the only player Borussia Mönchengladbach may lose on a free transfer this summer. Marcus Thuram, Farke’s top scorer with 10 goals in 11 games across all competitions, has entered the final year of his contract. The Frenchman was close to joining Inter last summer before a serious knee injury put an end to his move. This year, Bayern Munich scouted Thuram last week as they search the market for a No. 9 forward.
