PSG’s Abdou Diallo set to join RB Leipzig

As reported by Sky Germany, RB Leipzig are on the verge of signing of Abdou Diallo (26) on a season-long loan from PSG.

Leipzig have the option to purchase the Senegalese defender on a permanent basis for a reported €20m. Diallo has already completed his medical.

Diallo is already familiar with the Bundesliga having played for Mainz and Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2019. After one season at BVB, where he played 38 games across all competitions, Diallo joined PSG for a reported €32m and has since played 75 games for the French club.

Leipzig head coach Domenico Tedesco and CEO Oliver Mintzlaff had identified defence as an area that they’d like to improve on before today’s 18:00CET deadline. The Saxony club showed an interest in signing Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea but despite the arrival of Wesley Fofana to the West London club, English youth international Chalobah will remain in the Premier League.
