PREVIEW | Bayern Munich vs Viktoria Plzeň: Bayern look to continue 100% start to Champions League campaign

Bayern Munich will look to maintain their 100% start to the Champions League on Tuesday night when they host Czech Republic champions Viktoria Plzeň.

Heading into this game, Bayern will be without Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich, who have both tested positive for Covid-19. After becoming disappointed with playing time following his move from Ajax in the summer, Ryan Gravenberch (20) is expected to start alongside Leon Goretzka in midfield, giving Marcel Sabitzer a much needed rest. The Austrian has been excellent this season alongside Kimmich, playing 11 games across all competitions.

As well as Gravenberch, we could also see a first Champions League start for Mathys Tel (17). The Frenchman arrived from Rennes for €20m in the summer and has already scored two goals in 169 minutes across all competitions.

In attack, Julian Nagelsmann has hinted that we could see Sadio Mané, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala all start against Viktoria Plzeň, who are without Pavel Bucha.

Tonight’s game against Viktoria Plzeň comes too soon for Kingsley Coman, but we could see him feature against Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker at the weekend. Central-defender Lucas Hernandez is also absent and so Matthijs de Ligt will again start alongside Dayot Upamecano.

Nagelsmann’s Bayern responded well against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night with a 4-0 win following their first Bundesliga defeat of the season against Augsburg.

Probable Bayern Munich XI vs Viktoria Plzeň:

Neuer – Pavard, De Ligt, Upamecano, Davies – Gravenberch, Goretzka – Gnabry, Musiala, Mané – Tel.
