Official | Peter Pekarik extends his stay at Hertha Berlin

Peter Pekarik’s duties are not over at Hertha Berlin as the club announces that the veteran full-back has extended his contract by one season.

The 35-year-old Slovakian has now been with Hertha for a total of 11 seasons.

Despite his age, Pekarik played a crucial role as Hertha maintained their Bundesliga status in the season just gone.

During the campaign, the defender played a total of 31 competitive matches, most of them coming in games where Pekarik played a full 90 minutes.

The club’s sports director Fredi Bobic praised the professional Pekarik saying: “Peka proved again last season how valuable Peka is for Hertha BSC. He is an absolute professional, totally reliable and always acts in the interests of the team and the club. With his attitude and mentality he is simply good for us. I am therefore very pleased that he will stay with us for another year.”
