Official | Mainz sign Bochum defender Maxim Leitsch

Mainz 05 have announced the signing of central-defender Maxim Leitsch from fellow Bundesliga side Bochum for a reported €3 million.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Mainz until 2026.

“Maxim has proven how talented he is, both in the Bundesliga this season and in the second division last year. He fits the bill as a young and talented German player, who wants to take the next steps in his career at our club,” said head coach Bo Svensson.

“Maxim is a quick, robust defender who is good on the ball. He is an intelligent young man with enormous potential. I am delighted that the signing has worked out and that he wants to continue his journey here at Mainz.”

After 93 games in all competitions at Bochim, Leitsch joins fellow Germany youth internationals Jonathan Burkardt, Finn Dahmen and Anton Stach at M05, and provides further quality in defence following the departure of Jeremiah St. Juste.
