Mainz 05 have secured the signing of Dominik Kohr who was originally on loan at the club from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has featured heavily for Mainz since joining on loan in January 2021.
In this time he has featured in 40 games scoring once and providing five assists. However, Kohr is more recognised for his defensive work in the heart of Mainz’s midfield.
Kohr’s new contract with Mainz will see him stay at the club until at least 2026.
Having completed his move, Kohr said: “It is a matter close to my heart to continue to wear the Mainz 05 jersey. I felt like part of a special family here from day one and was able to experience for myself what Mainz 05 stands for. In addition to a stringent sporting philosophy that suits me, there is a very special family atmosphere here.”
Frankfurt are expected to receive around €3m for the transfer.
