Bundesliga side Augsburg have today announced the signing of Mërgim Berisha (24) from Fenerbahçe on a season-long loan.
“I am very pleased that this move to FCA has come off. Ultimately, it has always been a huge dream of mine to play in the Bundesliga,” said Berisha. “The environment at Augsburg is ideal and I already know some players from my time with the U-21s, so I’m sure it won’t take me long to settle in and I already can’t wait to make my first appearance at the WWK ARENA.”
FCA sporting director Stefan Reuter added: “In Mërgim Berisha we have found the reinforcement we wanted for the offensive because with his size and power he will liven up our game going forward.”
Augsburg beat Stuttgart to the signing of Berisha, who can also operate behind the striker and as an outside forward. In 2021, Berisha won the U21 European Championship with Germany and scored 22 goals for RB Salzburg in 2020/21 before joining Fenerbahçe, where he scored eight in 32.
