Official | Breel Embolo joins AS Monaco from Borussia Mönchengladbach

AS Monaco have announced the signing of Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Breel Embolo (25) on a four-year contract until 2026. According to Kicker, the Swiss forward joins for more than €12m.

“Breel approached us with a request for a new experience. We have found a solution which leaves all sides satisfied,” said Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus.

Embolo had 12 months remaining on his deal and leaves Borussia Mönchengladbach after three years. During his time at Die Fohlen, the Switzerland international scored 25 and created 20 across 106 games in all competitions after joining the club in 2019 from Schalke for €11m.

Upon arrival at Monaco, Embolo said: “I am very happy to join AS Monaco and to be part of this magnificent project. I would like to thank the management for giving me the opportunity to join such a great club.

“I want to integrate as quickly as possible and bring my qualities to the team. I’m looking forward to discovering my new environment and Ligue 1, a league whose level is constantly evolving.”
