Monaco submit opening offer for Breel Embolo

Ligue 1 side Monaco have submitted an opening offer for Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Breel Embolo, according to Sky Germany.

Negotiations have been ongoing between the two clubs for the Switzerland international, who remains a priority for the Principality club following the signing of Takumi Minamino (27) from Liverpool.

Per the report, Monaco’s offer is in the low double-digit million range for Embolo, who is entering the final year of his contract. Gladbach would also be open to the departure of Embolo as they look to raise transfer funds for new arrivals.

Embolo scored nine and created four in 29 Bundesliga games for Gladbach last season.

Potential attacking departures from the Bundesliga side also include Alassane Pléa, wanted by former side Nice, and Marcus Thuram, both of whom are entering the final year of their contracts.

Yann Sommer has also reportedly agreed personal terms with Nice with 12 months remaining on his current deal.
