MLS side DC United interested in signing Schalke’s Victor Pálsson

MLS side DC United are interested in signing Victor Pálsson (31) from Schalke 04, according to Sky Germany. The Icelandic midfielder has 12 months remaining on his current deal and is being courted by DC United, who today announced the appointment of Wayne Rooney as manager.

Pálsson already has experience of playing in the MLS with New York Red Bulls in 2012, where he featured 17 times. Last summer, the player completed a move from Darmstadt to Schalke for €700,000 and played 28 games in the 2. Bundesliga, helping S04 to the title and promotion back to the top flight.

S04 have signed Tom Krauß and Florent Mollet this summer whilst making the loan of Rodrigo Zalazar permanent. With the imminent arrival of Alex Král, who is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday, playing time season for Pálsson under new head coach Frank Kramer would likely be limited.
