Mateo Klimowicz nears move to Mexico

Mateo Klimowicz (22), who is currently on loan at Arminia Bielefeld from Stuttgart, will leave the 2. Bundesliga side before moving to Mexico to join Atlético de San Luis, according to Kicker.

The Argentinian will join on loan with an option to buy for a reported €3m. Klimowicz is already reportedly on his way to Mexico to finalise the deal, which will bring in money for Stuttgart as they look to make a move for Wolfsburg’s Josuha Guilavogui, who has 6 months remaining on his contract, in January. At the moment, VfB are priced out of a move for the Frenchman.

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has also confirmed that all parties are discussing the future of Klimowicz, who has struggled in Bielefeld where he’s played just 117 minutes this season.

Since joining Stuttgart from Instituto AC Cordoba for a reported €1.7m in 2019, Klimowicz has played 52 games across all competitions for VfB, scoring two and creating four.
