Josko Gvardiol has a release clause in the region of €110m

As reported by Bild and Sky Germany, Josko Gvardiol has a release clause in his RB Leipzig contract that is active from 2024 and is in the range of €110m which would comfortably make him the most expensive Bundesliga defender.

Gvardiol signed a contract extension at Leipzig earlier this season which extended his deal until 2027 having originally joined Leipzig in 2021 from Dinamo Zagreb in his homeland of Croatia. Since his move, he has easily made himself a starter for Leipzig first playing at left-back before moving to his more favoured centre-back position. The 20-year-old has played 65 games in total for Leipzig.

The Croatian was one of the stand-out performers at the World Cup in Qatar starting all seven games for Croatia on route to their third-place finish. Gvardiol also scored in the third-place play-off against Morocco, opening the scoring in the game.

Chelsea are one of the teams showing interest in the 20-year-old, with them being considered favourites. However, the chances for Leipzig to keep him next summer are good.
