Jonas Hofmann not at risk of missing World Cup despite dislocated shoulder

Borussia Mönchengladbach today confirmed that they will be without Jonas Hofmann (30) for the foreseeable future after the German attacking-midfielder suffered a dislocated shoulder during yesterday’s DFB Pokal exit at Darmstadt, but he’s expected to make Hansi Flick’s squad for the World Cup.

A statement on Gladbach’s website read: “The diagnosis of Jonas Hofmann is as feared, with the Borussia midfielder suffering a dislocated shoulder without further structural damage in the DFB-Pokal game in Darmstadt, meaning that he will be absent for the Foals for the time being. His participation with the Germany national team at the World Cup, which begins on 20th November, is not at risk.”

Under Daniel Farke this season, Hofmann has played 12 games across all competitions, scoring five and creating five. In August, Gladbach announced the contract extension of Hofmann until 2025 as he entered the final year of his previous deal.
