Jeremie Frimpong is likely to stay at Bayer Leverkusen unless a “crazy” offer is submitted

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen will keep Jeremie Frimpong until at least the end of the season unless a ‘crazy’ offer is submitted for the right-back.

There are no negotiations ongoing for Frimpong, but Leverkusen expect important bids for the 22-year-old in the summer. Frimpong joined Leverkusen from Celtic in 2021 for €11m and has made 68 appearances for die Werkself.

Frimpong has experienced a breakout season this year and has been one of the only positives of Leverkusen’s poor first half of the season. He has five goals and four assists in 20 games this season and this form earned him a call-up to the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, but he did not make an appearance.

Leverkusen are currently 12th in the table but experienced an upturn in form just before the World Cup break under Xabi Alonso who replaced Gerardo Seoane in October after a start to the season which only saw one win for Leverkusen.
