Hoffenheim fail in attempt to sign Jhon Córdoba

Hoffenheim have failed to reach an agreement to sign 29-year-old Colombian forward Jhon Córdoba.

As reported by Kicker, the Bundesliga side were unable to agree terms on a salary structure for Córdoba, who is allowed to leave Krasnodar on loan free of charge due on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Córdoba is currently under contract with the Russian club until 2025 but wanted to reach an agreement to join Hoffenheim on loan for the 2022/23 season. However, both parties failed to find common ground when it came to negotiating the salary.

With nine days of the transfer window remaining, Hoffenheim head coach André Breitenreiter and sporting director Alexander Rosen continue to pursue a No. 9 but with time running out, the question remains as to whether TSG will look elsewhere on the market for an alternative.

Hoffenheim want a similar profile to Córdoba, who opened his account for the season with Krasnodar over the weekend. The Colombian has previous Bundesliga experience with Mainz, Köln and more recently, Hertha Berlin.
