Hasan Salihamidžić discusses Bayern Munich’s transfer plans

In an interview with Sport Bild, Hasan Salihamidžić discusses Bayern Munich’s winter transfer plans.

The World Cup didn’t do any favours for Bayern. Many of their players sustained injuries and will be out for many weeks. Currently on the injury table includes Sadio Mané, Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Neuer, and Bouna Sarr.

Salihamidžić has never been the biggest fan of the winter transfer window. He told Sport Bild: As you know, I’m not a fan of the winter transfer window. But a lot happened during the World Cup break, so I’m not ruling anything out.”

The sporting director goes on to say that he and his team will try their best for the club and examine all options. Top on the list for Bayern this winter is solving the goalkeeping issue. However, Salihamidžić admits: “There will be no quick fixes.”

Other areas of concern include the defence. In 2024, the contracts of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard expire. The sporting director made his thoughts clear regarding Hernandez: The exchange with Lucas’ management is very good. He carries the Bayern gene and lives this club. In my opinion, Lucas’ future lies with FC Bayern, there’s no doubt about that!”

With Pavard, Salihamidžić was less confident:We have big goals and will try to solve this issue at an early stage – no matter in which direction. We have to see what is best for both sides.”

Lastly, the issue with Bayern forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Cameroonian has been a lifeline for his club this season but his contract is soon expiring. It’s reported that the 33-year-old wants more money if he is to sign a contract extension.

“I am in contact with his management. We will meet for dinner in the next few weeks and start the talks,” said the sporting director.
