Speaking to Sport1, Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić has defended the team’s trip to Ibiza following their 3-1 defeat against Mainz on Saturday.
“Last week the players informed us that they would like to spend the two days off training within the group in Ibiza. We accepted that as a team building measure,” said Salihamidžić. “Our team have set themselves higher goals this season and have been thinking a lot about their future path since the Champions League elimination. As a player, I learnt how strength can grow from defeat.
“Such joint action by the team can be an important basis here. It’s absolutely clear that our players will give everything against Stuttgart to give the dans a nice end to the season with a win as champions in their own stadium.”
According to Bild, the majority of players flew out after the game on Saturday after Julian Nagelsmann gave the players Sunday and Monday off.
