Gerardo Seoane on Florian Wirtz: “He never ceases to amaze us with incredible performances.”

Speaking in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, Bayer Leverkusen head coach Gerardo Seoane discussed the development of 18-year-old Florian Wirtz.

“It was an important reason for my move from Bern to Leverkusen that there are many talented players with development potential,” said Seoane. “Even though Florian [Wirtz] may have had the steepest rise in the last six or seven months, he never ceases to amaze us with incredible performances.”

Discussing the comparison with former B04 player Kai Havertz, Seoane added: “These are rare players who have a special gift, to be able to deliver week after week under the highest pressure. Florian has been dealing with his pressure incredibly well so far, which allows him to perform at his best.

“It’s out job to give players like Wirtz, [Moussa] Diaby or [Patrik] Schick the feeling of ‘I’m in the right place here’.”
