Gerardo Seoane on Bayer Leverkusen defeat: “It was a rough ride.”

Speaking after Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-2 Europa League defeat to Atalanta, head coach Gerardo Seoane praised the performance of Lukas Hradecky and believes that his side can overturn the goal deficit in the return leg.

“It was a rough ride, a rollercoaster of emotions,” said Seoane. “We started well and took the lead but Atalanta remained tough and aggressive. After we went 3-1 down, we had to be grateful that Lukas Hradecky pulled off some great saves to prevent us conceding more goals. It’s wide open for the second leg, it will be a tight affair.”

Charles Aranguiz opened the scoring on the night before Ruslan Malinovskyi equalised which was followed by a brace from Luis Muriel. Moussa Diaby scored an important goal for B04 which keeps the Bundesliga side in this tie.
