Fulham in advanced negotiations to sign Kevin Mbabu from Wolfsburg

Newly-promoted Premier League side Fulham are in advanced negotiations to sign Kevin Mbabu for a reported €6m, according to Kicker.

Mbabu (27) is entering the final year of his contract and Wolfsburg would like to sell this summer rather than lose the Switzerland international on a free transfer in 2023. Per the report, Wolfsburg will receive €6m plus bonuses for Mbabu, who played 45 minutes against WSG Tirol on Saturday.

Since his move from BSC Young Boys in 2019, Mbabu has played 66 Bundesliga games for Wolfsburg across three years. Given the signing of Kilian Fischer and Ridle Baku at the club, it’s apparent that the Swiss right-back isn’t in Niko Kovač’s plans for the 2022/23 season.

Wolfsburg are also working on strengthening their defence with the signing of Mattia Viti from Empoli – negotiations are ongoing for the Italian. Micky van de Ven has also confirmed his desire to fight for his spot at the Bundesliga club despite interest from PSV.
