Frank Kramer likens Stefan Ortega to Manuel Neuer: “It’s extraordinary what he’s doing.”

Speaking on the Kicker meets DAZN podcast, Arminia Bielefeld head coach Frank Kramer has likened the skillset of goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to that of Manuel Neuer and Marc-André ter Stegen.

“It’s extraordinary what ‘Tego’ is doing there,” said Kramer. “It’s a way of bringing calm into the game. If you have a goalkeeper that you can play to, you can position yourself better and give yourself a little time and breathing space. He’s really valuable for that.”

Before his appointment at the Bundesliga club, Kramer had also worked with the German national youth team and had spent time within the camp, stating that Ortega’s skills were like that of Germany’s goalkeepers in the national team: “Marc-André ter Stegen and Manuel NEuer were also two outstanding goalkeepers in this area.”

Per Kicker, Ortega has 1150 touches with the ball this season and completes 66% of his passes.

Ortega’s current deal expires as the end of the season.
