Florian Wirtz returns to Bayer Leverkusen training

Florian Wirtz has taken a huge step toward recovery as he participated in training at Bayer Leverkusen for the first time since injuring his cruciate ligament, reports Kicker

It’s been a horrible season so far for B04 fans but the news of Wirtz will certainly lift spirits. A rising star for both club and country, the 19-year-old could be a huge role in the remainder of Leverkusen’s season. The youngster confirmed to the world that: “It won’t be long.”

Wirtz is still waiting for the green light to train fully with the rest of the squad but it’s reported that he could be back in full training at some stage next week. The time is also good news for the German national team. Wirtz could be available for selection ahead of next month’s World Cup. However, should this be the case the attacking-midfielder will only be used as a substitute late on in matches.
