Eintracht Frankfurt get approval for stadium expansion

The city of Frankfurt has approved a request from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt to extend the capacity of the Waldstadion by 11,000 standing places, taking its capacity to 60,000.

“We fought for a few years to get standing room expansion,” said Eintracht board spokesman Axel Hellmann. “Back then, we fought to ensure that there was standing room at all 18 years ago when planning the stadium. Now, we’ve achieved another major goal.”

Construction on the expansion will start in late autumn.
