Borussia Mönchengladbach to fight to keep Alassane Pléa, Marcus Thuram & Breel Embolo at the club

Speaking to Kicker, Borussia Mönchengladbach Sporting Director Roland Virkus would like to keep attacking trio Alassane Pléa, Marcus Thuram and Breel Embolo at the club, but admitted that it may not be possible.

“I’ll fight for the boys. When they reach their full potential, Pléa, Thuram and Embolo are top players,” said Virkus.

When asked, Virkus said he will “speak to all three and explain what we are planning,” further emphasising “Basically, I don’t want to sell any of the guys. It can’t be ruled out that they will pursue other goals for themselves. In the event that no agreement can be found, one would have to consider how to solve the situation.”

Pléa, Thuram and Embolo all have a contract until 2023. If an agreement over a contract extension can’t be reached, then it’s possible that we could see the trio depart this summer otherwise Die Fohlen risk losing them on a free when their contracts expire.
