Dodi Lukebakio rejected offers from Italy and Spain

As reported by Sport Bild, Dodi Lukebakio rejected offers from Sampdoria, Espanyol and Olympiacos to remain at Hertha Berlin after spending last season on loan at Wolfsburg.

The 25-year-old Belgian attacker had a conversation with Hertha head coach Sandro Schwarz, appointed in the summer, who seemingly convinced Lukebakio to remain at the capital club: “From then on, I really wanted to stay.”

Last season, Lukebakio played 1403 minutes for Wolfsburg across the Bundesliga and Champions League, scoring just two and creating three. Under Mark van Bommel and Florian Kohfeldt, the club weren’t convinced on signing the forward on a permanent basis, hence his return to Hertha Berlin.

This season though is a completely different story. Lukebakio has excelled under Schwarz and is Hertha’s most dangerous threat in the final third, scoring six and creating two in 12 games across all competitions. As a result, Hertha have climbed to 13th in the Bundesliga and have lost just four of their 11 league games.
