David Alaba’s father-in-law arrested over far-right coup plot

As reported by BILD, celebrity chef Frank Heppner, father-in-law of Real Madrid’s David Alaba, is amongst 25 people arrested over a German far-right coup plot. On Wednesday, thousands of police officers stormed apartments in 11 federal states and in Austria in what is the largest terror raid in German history.

Special forces arrested Heppner on Wednesday in Kitzbühel in Austria after the German Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office listed the 62-year-old as a suspected member of a terrorist organisation. The group is inspired by Reichsbürger ideology and planned to storm the Reichstag, overthrowing the government and installing Heinrich XIII, Prince of Reuß, as head of state.

Per the report, Heppner was the personal cook for Heinrich XIII, and was responsible for recruiting new members, obtaining weapons and was also responsible for the establishment of a tap-proof communication system.

When asked by BILD, Alaba, now at Real Madrid after leaving Bayern Munich in the summer, could not be reached for comment.
